3dwarehouse won't let you chose version
|
Here is a quick trick to download the file to the most possible lower version (original file version), for the moment it is still possible to download 2020 and 2019 versions depending on the original file version, the trick is very simple we just need to copy the 3D model ID and paste it in the URL that I will show you.
We take this Sofa model as an example :
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/287b1730-ba82-4e3e-a0e2-4798c927ff0f/Sofá-Arca
For a shared link it should look like this https://app.sketchup.com/app?3dwid=287b1730-ba82-4e3e-a0e2-4798c927ff0f
Steps to download lowers versions:
1- Copy your 3d model ID , in our case it's 287b1730-ba82-4e3e-a0e2-4798c927ff0f
2- Paste and replace your 3d model ID in this URL were it says
PLACE ID HERE (you need to be logged in 3dwarehouse)
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/warehouse/v1.0/entities/PLACE ID HERE/binaries/s20?download=true
3- Replace S20 with the desired version S19 for 2019, and so on down to the lowest possible version which is version S6 (depending on the original uploaded version).
4- Hit Enter, the download will start immediately
5- Open your Sketchup file and enjoy !
And here is another example that shows it is still possible to download
versions even as low as version 8.
Enjoy and spread the word (with your friends, Trimble would probably remove access, as they want you to pay and force you to buy new versions that do the exact same stuff as the previous Google ones)

Funnily enough, your working example only has that single id assigned to that version.
If you try to download it on version 9 or 7 it will not work.
I've been trying with another id and it doesn't work, a DB is returning a callback with the message:
{
"message": "Binary with id 's10' does not exist",
"errorId": "OBJECT_DOES_NOT_EXIST"
}
Maybe Trimble did remove all access except for your example lol...
until now it is still possible to download 2020 and 2019 versions , lower versions depend on the original file version
Thank you for this. I've topped out at v20 as the latest version I have where Pro doesn't expire and I cannot afford a yearly subscription for one project a year. This tip has enabled me to continue to download stuff from the 3D Warehouse which has definitely saved me time.
I see that "Anonymous" on June 08, 2024 did not understand the concept that what versions you can download depends on the original file version. For the handful of models that I've downloaded since I discovered this tip, it has always worked for me. I'm downloading v20 versions of models uploaded as long ago as 2014 and the 3D warehouse is converting them to v20 just fine, so my guess is the conversion works well to download in a more recent format but since I have not tried downloading any models that were uploaded with more recent versions than mine, I'm only guessing that that's the situation that has problems, which makes sense. When Anonymous attempted to download version 10, if the model was newer than that, the website likely could not automatically downgrade the model. I think this needs some explanation. I get it, but it's clearly not obvious.
You're welcome, Good Luck Bro !
Version 9 or 10 do not exist , there is 6 7 8 , then 13 14 etc...so no 9 10 11 or 12 , after V8 there is V13, and the download depends on the original version while it still work for 2019 and 2020.
