How to download and extract JPG textures from Sketchup SKM materials via 3Dwarehouse

If you are using any software package for modeling , you will probably need textures at any time, a quick way to download high quality free textures is searching in 3Dwarehouse instead of using google image search or using textures.com, there is no registration required here :)

If you are using other software like 3DS Max, Maya or Cinema4D , 3Dwarehouse is full of nice seamless textures collections to download for free yes gratis, you can extract JPG textures without installing Sketchup.

1- Go to the 3Dwarehouse  for an example let's search : "wood texture seamless" and click on the desired one.

2- To download the material, click on "Materials" a and new tab will appear on the left with the list of the materials available for download > click download

3- Now you will need to rename the SKM file you downloaded to ZIP

4- Unzip the file you just renamed and find a folder named "ref" , you will see the JPG texture file there. and Voila!

You can extract textures from any component available in 3Dwarehouse and you can use any desired search keyword just download the SKM file and rename it, here is an example of stone/rock textures you can extract from 3Dwarehouse.
